Channing Tatum’s ‘White House Down’ Now Streaming Free on Tubi
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Channing Tatum‘s 2013 action thriller White House Down is now available to stream for free on Tubi as of Feb. 1. The film, directed by Roland Emmerich, stars Tatum as a Capitol Police officer who must rescue his daughter and the President of the United States, played by Jamie Foxx, during a terrorist attack on the White House.
The movie, which also features Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins, and James Woods, premiered on Tubi shortly after its removal from Netflix on Jan. 31. Despite its star-studded cast and high-octane action, White House Down received mixed reviews from critics, holding a 52% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics praised Tatum and Foxx’s on-screen chemistry but criticized the film’s reliance on clichés and uneven editing.
White House Down grossed $205 million worldwide against a $150 million budget. It was one of two films released in 2013 depicting a White House terrorist attack, alongside Olympus Has Fallen, which debuted three months earlier. While both films garnered mixed reviews, Olympus Has Fallen spawned a successful franchise, including sequels London Has Fallen (2016) and Angel Has Fallen (2019).
In recent years, both Tatum and Foxx have made notable appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Foxx reprised his role as Electro in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Tatum finally debuted as Gambit in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Tatum’s portrayal of the X-Men character was well-received, with co-star Ryan Reynolds praising his performance. “I honestly don’t know what goes on behind closed doors in the bookkeeping sessions at Marvel, but I do know that they’re obsessed with him in that role,” Reynolds said.
Despite its lukewarm reception, White House Down remains a notable entry in the action-thriller genre. Fans can now revisit the film for free on Tubi.
