Chaos Unfolds for Couple in New Comedy ‘I Don’t Understand You’

AUSTIN, Texas — The highly anticipated comedy film ‘I Don’t Understand You‘ is set to hit theaters on June 6, following its premiere at SXSW in 2023. The film stars Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells, portraying a couple, Dom and Cole, who face unexpected challenges during a vacation in Italy.
The story unfolds as the couple embarks on their trip to reconnect before adopting a baby. However, their plans take a drastic turn when their car becomes stuck in a ditch during a severe storm, leaving them stranded in the Italian countryside.
In a scene that highlights their dependence on comfort, Kroll’s Dom and Rannells’ Cole find themselves grappling not only with the elements but also their own cultural disconnection. Unfamiliar with the local language and customs, the duo experiences escalating tension, culminating in what could be a comedic disaster.
“It’s a relatable story about navigating life, love, and unexpected circumstances,” Kroll said in a press statement. “We wanted to capture the humor that arises from real-life situations that spiral out of control.”
The film features a strong supporting cast including Morgan Spector, Nunzia Schiano, Eleanora Romandini, and Paolo Romano. Directed by Brian Crano and David Joseph Craig, ‘I Don’t Understand You’ marks the feature directorial debut for Craig, with Crano bringing previous directing experience from his two prior films.
Early reviews from critics have been positive, with the film earning a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, audience feedback will be collected after its official theatrical release in June. The project is produced by a talented team, including Jonathan Glickman and Nash Edgerton.
Kroll, renowned for his voice work in animated films like ‘Sausage Party’ and ‘Captain Underpants,’ and Rannells, known for ‘The Prom’ and the miniseries ‘Welcome to Chippendales,’ lead a cast that promises both comedic talent and heartfelt performances.
Fans can view the official trailer for ‘I Don’t Understand You’ released earlier this week and should stay tuned for further promotional materials as the release date approaches.
