Chef James Martin Storms Off Set After Air Fryer Question By First Dates Star

During ITV’s Saturday Morning show, celebrity chef James Martin humorously stormed off the set after being teased about air frying by First Dates star Merlin Griffiths.

The incident occurred while chef Romy Gill was showcasing a traditional Punjabi street food recipe, known as Aloo Bread Pakora with Mint Chutney and Chaat Masala.

Merlin Griffiths raised the question of whether the deep-fried dish could be made in an air fryer, prompting James to jestingly walk away from the segment, exclaiming, ‘See you later!’

Romy Gill and James Martin seemed to share the sentiment, with Romy rolling her eyes and stating firmly, ‘Please don’t ask me about air frying – no, no! Absolutely not!’

Despite the lighthearted moment, James Martin has previously expressed his disdain for air fryers, going as far as declaring that they ‘should be banned.’

Notably, this is not the first time James has criticized air fryers, having made his views clear while preparing his own version of KFC, dubbed JFC, at the BBC Good Food Show Winter in Birmingham’s The NEC.

James Martin, known for his strong opinions on traditional cooking methods, operates two restaurants – Tavern, offering a cozy pub atmosphere with a variety of snacks, and Grill, a more formal dining option with a diverse menu.
