Cheryl Hines Navigates Political Divide with Husband RFK Jr.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Actress Cheryl Hines, known for her role in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is stepping into the political spotlight as her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., prepares to join President-elect Donald Trump‘s administration. Kennedy, an environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine activist, was recently nominated to lead the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a move that has drawn both support and criticism.
Hines, 59, confirmed she will attend Trump’s inauguration on Monday and walk the red carpet at the MAHA Inaugural Ball, celebrating Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” movement. The event marks a significant shift for Hines, who has largely stayed out of the political fray despite her husband’s high-profile campaigns and controversial statements.
Kennedy, 70, endorsed Trump in August after suspending his own presidential campaign. Since then, he has become a key figure in Trump’s inner circle, attending events at Mar-a-Lago and participating in high-profile gatherings. Hines has accompanied him to several of these events, including Trump’s election night watch party in November, where they celebrated the Republican victory over Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Cheryl was talking to everyone, including Donald Trump,” a source told Page Six about Hines’ appearance at the America First Policy Institute gala in November. The event, held at Mar-a-Lago, also featured Trump allies such as Tulsi Gabbard, Donald Trump Jr., and Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Despite her public support, Hines has faced challenges navigating her husband’s political career. In a December interview with TMZ, she acknowledged the difficulties of balancing her own career with Kennedy’s ambitions. “I’m gonna pay attention to my career,” she said. “And do what I do and support my husband at the same time.”
Kennedy’s nomination has sparked controversy, particularly among medical professionals. A letter signed by 15,000 doctors urged the Senate to block his appointment, citing his history of anti-vaccine activism. “RFK Jr. is not only unqualified to lead this essential agency,” the letter stated. “He is actively dangerous.”
Hines has also faced criticism from some in her Hollywood circle. A source told People magazine that her involvement with Trump’s administration has led to strained relationships. “People who know her well in LA feel if she stays with Bobby now that Trump won the election, she’ll get fame over being in the inner circles,” the insider said.
Despite the challenges, Hines has remained supportive of her husband. In a March 2023 interview with Fox News Digital, she reflected on their ability to navigate political differences. “We’ve learned to talk through it,” she said. “Talk it out. Listen to each other. Sometimes, agree to disagree.”
Kennedy’s nomination awaits Senate confirmation, and Hines is expected to continue supporting him as he transitions into his new role. Whether she will fully embrace her position in the political world remains to be seen, but for now, Hines is focused on maintaining her career and her marriage in the face of unprecedented scrutiny.
