CHICAGO, Illinois — The acclaimed drama series The Chi, created by Lena Waithe, will return for its seventh season on May 16 on Paramount+ with Showtime. The season will subsequently air its first episode on May 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.

This season centers on Alicia as she leads the women of The Chi in their quest to reclaim their power. With tensions rising and new rivalries forming, it has become apparent that the struggle for dominance will come at a significant cost.

Season six marked a milestone for The Chi, becoming the show’s most-watched season to date, according to Paramount+ statistics. “We are thrilled to see our audience respond so positively,” said Waithe, who serves as executive producer alongside co-showrunners Justin Hillian and Jewel Coronel.

The series showcases talented actors including Jacob Latimore, Lynn Whitfield, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., and Michael V. Epps. Notable guest stars returning for this season include Kadeem Hardison, Chris Lee, and La La Anthony.

The Chi is produced entirely in Chicago, reflecting the city’s vibrant culture and community. The production team also includes Common, who serves as an executive producer, alongside Aaron Kaplan and Rick Famuyiwa.

Supervising producers Deondray Gossfield and Quincy LeNear Gossfield will direct multiple episodes in season seven, further contributing to the series’ dynamic storytelling.
