Chicago Fire and P.D. Take Break Before New Episodes Return

CHICAGO, Illinois — Fans of NBC‘s popular shows Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. will have to wait for new episodes as both series take a brief hiatus this week. The latest episodes will return on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 9/8c and 10/9c, respectively.
After an exciting Season 13, Chicago Fire will return with Episode 20, titled “Cut Me Open.” This episode features the crew of Firehouse 51 facing a performance efficiency expert examining their operations while Kelly Severide and Kidd bond with the mother of a baby they hope to adopt.
“With the crew stretched thin, we see the stresses of our jobs tested in this episode,” said Chris Herrmann, who plays a beloved character in a recent interview. Herrmann noted the camaraderie among the cast and crew during long filming hours, adding, “We laugh hard every day on this show.”
As for Chicago P.D., fans can look forward to Episode 20, “Black Ice,” where Ruzek witnesses a tragic accident on an icy bridge leading to a dark investigation involving sex trafficking. “It’s an intense storyline that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats,” said Patrick Flueger, who stars in the series.
Despite the hiatus, both shows have a history of thrilling storytelling filled with emotional highs and thrilling action. Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. are part of the greater One Chicago franchise, which has developed a devoted fanbase excited for what’s next.
Fortunately, for those who want to catch up, all previous episodes are available for streaming on Peacock. The brief absence from new episodes allows fans to revisit earlier plotlines before the season finales air later this month.
The series finales of Chicago Med, Fire, and P.D. are set for May 21 on NBC, promising dramatic conclusions to the ongoing story arcs.
