CHICAGO, Ill. — Fans of NBC‘s popular series “Chicago Fire” will have to wait an additional week for new episodes as the show takes a brief hiatus. The break, scheduled for February 12, 2025, comes after an exciting two-week stretch in which Firehouse 51 engaged in high-stakes rescues and explored the personal lives of its characters.
The show, airing Wednesdays at 9/8c, will return with its next installment on February 19, 2025. The upcoming Episode 13, titled “Born of Fire,” reveals that after a daring rescue at an adventure park, firefighter Stella Kidd requests her partner, Kelly Severide, to create a ropes course for Girls on Fire, alongside a return of Violet‘s former nemesis. Meanwhile, Herrmann plans to introduce a signature cocktail for Molly's.
“It’s never lost on me how special it is to be a part of something with the longevity this has,” said Taylor Kinney, who plays Severide, in an interview. “It’s a testament to the team of people [behind the show].”
This hiatus follows the thrilling events of a recent crossover week, where characters from all three One Chicago series — Fire, Med, and P.D. — came together. The crossover opened with a tense atmosphere but wrapped up with intense standalone episodes highlighting emotional storylines and character development across all shows. During this time, Severide and Kidd discussed the possibility of adopting a child.
Tonight’s scheduling will present reruns, including a repeat of “Through the Skin,” Episode 4 of the current season, featuring Violet risking her job to help deliver a baby during a tragic call. Fans can catch this and more throughout the night starting at 8 p.m. ET with Chicago Med.
While the brief intermission may frustrate dedicated viewers, it reflects the challenges of production scheduling that networks face regularly. A representative from NBC mentioned that these short hiatuses are often necessary to ensure enough episodes remain for the remainder of the season, which typically wraps up in May.
As the waiting period unfolds, fans are encouraged to revisit earlier episodes available for streaming on Peacock. With all 13 seasons of “Chicago Fire” ready for viewing, audiences can enjoy past adventures while eagerly anticipating the show’s next chapter.
“We’ve had loads of laughs; there have been tears,” said Kinney, reflecting on his experiences on set. “Everybody who could possibly stay stays because it’s a beautiful set.”
As the One Chicago franchise gears up for its return, viewers can look forward to the unfolding stories that continue to captivate audiences and maintain the high-stakes drama that the franchise is renowned for.
