Chichester, England — Chichester City FC announced on Thursday that player Billy Vigar has died at the age of 21 after suffering a significant brain injury during a match. Vigar was placed in an induced coma following the injury he sustained at Wingate and Finchley last Saturday in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
The club stated that Vigar’s injury occurred when he collided with a concrete wall while trying to keep the ball in play. His family shared their devastation over the incident, saying, “This has happened while he was playing the sport he loved.” They added that Vigar underwent surgery to aid his recovery, but unfortunately, his injuries proved fatal.
