LOS ANGELES, CA — Chris O'Donnell has been cast as the lead in the upcoming spinoff series “9-1-1: Nashville,” set to debut during the 2025-2026 broadcast season. This new addition to the popular “9-1-1” franchise will explore the lives of first responders in Nashville, Tennessee, with O’Donnell portraying Captain Don Sharpe, a rugged fire captain who also engages in rodeo riding.

According to a character description, Don Sharpe runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse alongside his beloved son while balancing his duties as a devoted husband and family man. However, the character’s life is overshadowed by secrets that promise to add depth to the storyline.

This casting marks O’Donnell’s second leading role in a procedural spinoff, following his successful tenure as Special Agent Grisha Callen in CBS’s “NCIS: Los Angeles,” which ran for 14 seasons before concluding in 2023. He has also appeared in shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Bupkis,” and is known for his roles in various films, including “Batman Forever” and “Scent of a Woman.” O’Donnell is represented by Untitled Entertainment, Gersh, Vision PR, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

“9-1-1: Nashville” will be executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear, Rashad Raisani, and Brad Falchuk, all key figures behind the original “9-1-1” series, which premiered on Fox in 2018. The original series has now moved to ABC and is currently airing its eighth season. The first spinoff, “9-1-1: Lone Star,” starring Rob Lowe, was canceled after five seasons and ended its run in February.

While specific plot details for “9-1-1: Nashville” remain under wraps, the series is expected to follow the challenges and triumphs faced by the emergency service personnel in the city. The series aims to reflect the unique culture of Nashville, a city characterized by its significant country music scene and distinct Southern charm.

Murphy and Minear have previously indicated that the decision to set the spinoff in Nashville stems from the city’s rich personality and the production-friendly environment in Tennessee. As expressed by Minear, “Nashville felt like a fun place to set a piece of the franchise.”

O’Donnell’s casting is anticipated to draw interest from his existing fan base, especially those familiar with his work on “NCIS: Los Angeles.” Additional casting announcements for “9-1-1: Nashville” are expected in the coming months as details regarding the premiere date and supporting characters become available.
