Chris Stapleton Guitar Interview

Nashville, TN – Chris Stapleton, known for his powerful voice and hit songs like “You Should Probably Leave,” showed his sentimental side during an interview with actor Josh Brolin for Billboard. The interview was part of a special feature where Stapleton took Brolin to see his impressive collection of guitars.

Among the guitars, Stapleton presented one that he considers irreplaceable. “This is the guitar that I bought when I moved to town, when I moved to Nashville,” he said, revealing a well-used acoustic guitar. “If I had to walk out of here with one thing, it would be this. Whatever I’ve done… has pretty much been built on this thing. I would say 90% of the things I’ve written in my life has been on this guitar.”

Stapleton’s connection to this guitar is deep, as he has crafted many hits not only for himself but also for other country artists, including Josh Turner and Kenny Chesney. Despite its rough condition, marked by repairs from a past flood, Stapleton values it greatly. “It’s not precious in a collector way because it was in a flood at some point. There’s mud inside it, somebody used it as a canoe paddle,” he explained.

The interview also touched on Stapleton’s personal life, including the importance of family and his friendship with Brolin. The two shared a light moment after a lunch at Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, a popular Nashville restaurant. Brolin asked Stapleton about his spice preference, to which Stapleton replied that he sticks with mild, avoiding the hotter options.

In the interview published by Billboard, Stapleton also discussed his ongoing success in the music industry, including his recent achievements at the ACM Awards and his contributions to soundtracks like “F1 The Album.” He remains a celebrated figure in country music as his 2015 album, “Traveller,” continues to top lists of the best country albums of the century.

As Stapleton proceeds with his headlining shows, he maintains a focus on authenticity and deep storytelling in his music, echoing the sentiment that drives his work and personal life.
