Chrisean Rock and Karlissa Saffold Clash Over Restaurant Reopening, Past Tensions

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Tensions between Chrisean Rock and Karlissa Saffold, the mother of rapper Blueface, flared again during the reopening of Blueface’s seafood restaurant, King of Crabs, on Jan. 20, 2025. The event, intended to celebrate the restaurant’s revival, instead became a stage for public accusations and simmering family drama.

Chrisean, who attended the private dinner with a friend, accused Karlissa of clout chasing after the latter live-streamed the event on Instagram. “We just didn’t like the recording part,” Chrisean said, with her friend adding, “just didn’t like the clout chasing.” The two women were seated separately during the event, with Karlissa at a larger table and Chrisean dining with her companion.

The conflict has deeper roots, stemming from past comments made by Karlissa about Chrisean and Blueface’s relationship. Karlissa previously addressed her son’s ultimatum regarding maintaining a respectful relationship, stating, “My son told me to respect his position in order to have a relationship with him, and I promise y’all I’m going to do my best to try.” Chrisean, while acknowledging their familial ties, expressed frustration, saying, “I get it — we all related in a way, but keep it cordial.” She also criticized Karlissa for allegedly taking credit for the restaurant’s reopening.

Karlissa responded by attributing the restaurant’s success to divine intervention, saying, “God was the real reason why the restaurant was back up and running. But obviously, there was no child of God there.” She also claimed that Blueface’s grandmother accused Chrisean of wanting to “stomp her out,” threatening to involve probation authorities if the alleged threats continued.

The drama escalated further when a resurfaced video showed a member of Chrisean’s family kissing her infant son, Chrisean Jesus, on the lips. Karlissa condemned the act, writing on Instagram, “I’m angry on so many levels because I don’t know what I’d do if I saw someone put they lips in my babies mouth.” She later threatened to press charges, stating, “As a grandmother, I can press charges because it’s also inappropriate. I can also press charges for threatening.”

Despite the tension, Karlissa expressed a more understanding perspective toward Chrisean regarding her son’s health, suggesting that Rock might be keeping his medical information private. “That part she may not want to share,” Karlissa said during a live stream. “She ain’t sharing her court proceedings. There’s certain things that people…say they’re transparent but they’re not as transparent as they think they are.”
