Chrishell Stause Opens Up About Tensions on ‘Selling Sunset’ Season 9
LOS ANGELES, CA — Season 9 of Netflix‘s hit show Selling Sunset premiered on October 29, bringing ongoing drama and conflicts among cast members, most notably involving longtime member Chrishell Stause.
As filming began, Stause grappled with unresolved tensions from previous seasons, particularly with fellow Oppenheim Group agent Nicole Young. Their fallout escalated in Season 8 when Young accused Stause’s then-friend Emma Hernan of having an affair with a married man. Tensions rose again during a ‘Girlsgiving’ dinner hosted by Amanza Smith, where Nicole’s comments about Stause’s deceased parents provoked an emotional outburst.
“Honey, you’re confusing me with your parents, OK? You seem to be obsessed with drugs,” Young remarked, referring to Stause’s past experiences with family substance abuse issues. This confrontation led to Young’s removal from her position at the brokerage, though she later claimed she was not officially fired.
Stause’s friendships also faced tests this season, particularly with Hernan, after Hernan introduced her boyfriend Blake Davis. Stause expressed her disapproval of Davis due to problematic statements he allegedly made in the past, leading to a rift between the two friends.
In a recent interview, Stause reflected on the challenges and enjoyable moments of the season, stating, “I liked this season; I don’t think I had a hard season. But she adds that she’s excited to move on from this chapter.” She highlighted the intense nature of the reunion, calling it “brutal” and stating, “It felt a little bit like a dog pile.”
The reunion created further ambiguity around her future with the show. While Netflix has yet to renew Selling Sunset, Stause indicated her readiness to leave this part of her life behind. “In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward. I wish everyone the best, but this isn’t the place for me,” she said.
Chrishell Stause continues to navigate her relationships with castmates and reflects on how public perceptions made her experience challenging, particularly concerning her past friendships and the persistent drama depicted in the series.
