NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Chrissy Metz, the actress renowned for her role as Kate Pearson in the award-winning series ‘This Is Us,’ has opened up about her health journey following an impressive weight loss of 100 pounds. In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Metz shared insights about her current fitness regimen and her evolving relationship with her body.

Now 44, Metz has become an advocate for body positivity, emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance, especially after portraying a character who battled weight and self-esteem challenges. During the interview, she discussed her interest in continuing her fitness journey and her thoughts on trending weight loss drugs flooded in Hollywood.

Metz highlighted that weight lifting has become a significant part of her routine, a method she has embraced consistently due to her personal trainer, who remains unnamed. “I have always enjoyed strength training,” Metz stated. “I don’t want to run unless I’m being chased.” She was promoting her second children’s book, ‘When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings,’ which focuses on navigating emotions through faith.

Previously, Metz shed the weight by maintaining a 2,000-calorie daily diet and walking for 20 minutes each day. Now, she feels that her weightlifting sessions contribute not only to her physical strength but also her longevity. “I want to age the best way that I can, and I want to be strong,” she expressed. “It’s about being and staying strong and flexible.”

Metz described her training philosophy, explaining that her workouts vary based on her weekly schedule. Whether it’s ‘gardening, painting, or woodwork,’ she prefers to immerse herself fully. “I love to go ham, all in… and chip away just a little bit every day,” she added.

When asked about her views on the weight loss drug Ozempic, which has been the subject of much debate, Metz emphasized personal choice in health decisions. “It’s people’s personal decision to decide what it is that they want to do for their body,” she remarked. “Ultimately, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves.”

Reflecting on her past experiences, Metz shared a poignant moment from her life about her struggles with depression, which led to a significant weight gain eight years ago. “All I did was eat a 2,000-calorie diet and walk 20 minutes a day,” she noted about her ability to lose the weight she had gained. “Ultimately, it was because I was unhappy and not pursuing my career.”

Metz is also navigating a new relationship, following a breakup with singer-songwriter Bradley Collins in late 2023. She confirmed she has been dating someone new for nearly a year but prefers to keep his identity private, citing the impact of social media on relationships. “You learn from other choices that you’ve made… What is my intention? Everything I do is, ‘What is my intention?’” she explained.

Continuing her creative pursuits, Metz co-authored her children’s book with Collins while they were going through their breakup. “We luckily remained friendly, so it’s not awkward,” she laughed. The book illustrates children’s feelings through faith and is part of a bestselling series.

Metz is excited about future projects, including a film titled ‘Last Day in Paradise‘ and an upcoming thriller, ‘The Hunting Wives.’ Despite the success of ‘This Is Us’, she expressed a desire to explore more comedic roles and is developing a one-woman show to share her journey through stand-up comedy and music.
