Chrissy Metz Stars in ‘Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger’ on Netflix
Chrissy Metz, best known for her role in NBC‘s ‘This Is Us,’ joins the cast of ‘Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger,’ premiering on Netflix on Friday, January 10. The sequel follows Burnley-born Dave Fishwick, portrayed by Rory Kinnear, as he battles payday loan companies charging exorbitant interest rates. Metz plays Jessica, a U.S. investigative journalist specializing in finance, who becomes deeply involved in Dave’s mission.
Born in Homestead, Florida, in 1980, Metz spent her early years in Japan due to her father’s U.S. Navy service. She later moved to Gainesville, Florida, where she worked as a preschool teacher before pursuing acting in Los Angeles. Metz’s career breakthrough came in 2014 with her role as Ima Wiggles in FX‘s ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show,’ though she had to wear a fat suit for the part, which she described as a ‘sobering’ experience.
Metz’s portrayal of Kate in ‘This Is Us’ transformed her life, both personally and professionally. She revealed to Glamour in 2017 that she had only 81 cents in her bank account before landing the role. ‘Getting the role of Kate has changed everything,’ she said. Metz also opened up about her struggles with weight, emotional eating, and self-esteem, sharing that she lost 100 pounds in less than five months after a health scare.
On the personal front, Metz was married to British journalist Martyn Eaden from 2008 to 2015. She later dated songwriter Bradley Collins for three years before announcing their amicable split in 2023. ‘While we continue to love each other very much, we believe this is the best path for us both,’ Metz wrote on Instagram.
‘Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger’ continues the story of community banking and financial justice, with Metz’s character adding a new dimension to the narrative. The film is set to captivate audiences with its blend of drama and real-world relevance.
