Christopher Chung Doctor Who Season 15 Cast

LONDON, UK — Actor Christopher Chung is set to join the cast of “Doctor Who” for its upcoming fifteenth season, bringing a new character named Cassio into the beloved sci-fi series. The anticipated season, which will also see the return of Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, is scheduled for release later this year.

Chung, renowned for his role as MI5 agent Roddy in the Apple TV+ series “Slow Horses,” expressed his excitement about entering the Whoniverse. “I’m absolutely thrilled to step into the Whoniverse as Cassio for Season 2. This show is legendary, and getting to be part of this new era feels surreal,” he said.

In his new role, Chung will navigate a complex relationship with the Doctor, though details about Cassio’s allegiance remain under wraps. “As for whether Cassio is an ally or an enemy of the Doctor, you’ll have to wait and see, but I can promise, it’s one hell of a meeting!” commented showrunner Russell T Davies.

The upcoming season will introduce new companion Belinda Chandra, portrayed by Varada Sethu, as the Doctor embarks on a quest to return her to Earth. The storyline hints at intriguing challenges, as a mysterious force seeks to disrupt their journey.

Chung’s addition to the cast follows a trend of notable actors joining the iconic series, a strategy that Russell T Davies commends. “I’m a huge fan of ‘Slow Horses,’ and I was so excited to get Chris involved. He brings all of his strength and style and talent to one of the darkest, toughest episodes we’ve ever made,” Davies stated.

Doctor Who’s latest season debuted with a double bill on May 11, 2023, and has garnered significant attention for its engaging storylines. The excitement around season 15 is palpable, especially with Davies hinting at some of the season’s darker themes. “This episode is huge – packed with everything Who fans love: heart, adventure, and a touch of madness,” Chung remarked.

The show has a long-standing legacy, captivating audiences since its first episode in 1963. The new season is set to air on BBC One and stream exclusively on Disney+ outside of the UK, marking a significant expansion in accessibility for international audiences.

Fandom anticipation continues to grow, with both Chung and Davies hinting at what viewers can expect. “I can’t wait for everyone to see what’s in store – it’s going to be iconic. Get ready!” Chung said, alluding to the unique twists and turns that viewers will experience in this season.
