Cleveland Braces for First Snow of the Season and Gusty Winds
Cleveland and Northeast Ohio are preparing for significant weather changes as the first snow of the season is expected to arrive later this week. According to 3News Meteorologist Jessica Van Meter, the region will experience a mild start to the week, with temperatures in the 50s and 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
However, the weather is set to take a dramatic turn beginning Wednesday afternoon. An area of low pressure will develop over Ohio, leading to rain that will transition into wet snow as cold air moves in late Wednesday. This change is expected to bring impactful weather, including wet snow and gusty winds, from Wednesday evening through Thursday.
Lake shore communities are likely to remain under rain due to the warmer air from the lake, but other areas could see slushy, accumulating snow, particularly during the Thursday morning rush hour and into the afternoon. The cold air and wind are expected to persist, with temperatures staying in the 30s and 40s.
By Friday, the cold air aloft is expected to move out, potentially changing the wet snow back to a rain/snow mix, although gusty winds will continue. A Weather Impact Alert has been activated for later this week, highlighting the potential for significant weather disruptions.
The weekend is expected to be quieter, but residents are advised to stay updated as the weather situation evolves. This marks a significant shift from the mild temperatures experienced earlier in the week, and preparations for travel and daily activities should be adjusted accordingly.
