Clint Eastwood’s ‘Sully’ Now Streaming on Max
Clint Eastwood‘s critically acclaimed 2016 film ‘Sully,’ starring Tom Hanks, has found a new streaming home on Max. The film, which tells the true story of the ‘Miracle on the Hudson,’ is now available for subscribers to watch on the popular streaming platform.
‘Sully’ depicts the events surrounding U.S. Airways Flight 1549, which lost both engines after a birdstrike shortly after takeoff from New York City in 2009. Tom Hanks portrays Captain Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger, the pilot who successfully landed the plane on the Hudson River, saving all 155 passengers and crew on board. The film also stars Aaron Eckhart as First Officer Jeffrey Skiles and Laura Linney as Sullenberger’s wife, Lorraine.
The movie, based on Sullenberger’s memoir ‘Highest Duty,’ was directed by Eastwood and written by Todd Komarnicki. It earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Sound Editing and holds an 85% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the film sparked controversy for its portrayal of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which some critics argued was unfairly depicted as antagonistic toward the pilots.
Eastwood, now in his 90s, continues to be a prolific filmmaker, with ‘Sully’ standing as one of his most notable directorial efforts in recent years. The film’s availability on Max comes as part of Warner Bros.’ ongoing efforts to expand its streaming library with high-profile titles.
