Closure, New Openings, and a Unique Race Highlight Indianapolis Food Scene

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Local restaurants and events are making headlines as Fountain Square’s popular eatery, The Feed, prepares to close its doors for good on May 24. The owners announced the decision to shutter the restaurant due to upcoming construction on a new venue at the Murphy Arts Center. They stated the closure is a necessary move as they shift their focus. The bar at the restaurant will continue to operate to enhance the Hi-Fi music venue experience.
Bobby Rahal, a racer and owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, is making waves in the culinary scene as well. Reports indicate that he has partnered with the Michigan-based chain Bowdie’s to open its first Indianapolis location at 10814 Creek Way. The restaurant is expected to serve traditional steakhouse favorites, including seafood towers, wedge salads, and various prime cuts of meat.
This weekend is also notable for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is gearing up for the Indy 500 race. New menu items will debut at the IMS concession stands, including a pretzel-wrapped bratwurst and Buffalo “Totchos,” featuring potato tots loaded with buffalo chicken and cheese sauce.
Adding to the spectacle, all six of Oscar Mayer’s Wienermobiles will compete in the Wienie 500, a hot dog-shaped truck race. This unprecedented event will occur on Carb Day, with coverage streaming live Friday at 2 p.m. on the FOX Sports app.
