CNN’s ‘My Happy Place’ Travel Series Debuts with Alan Cumming

ATLANTA, Ga. — CNN is set to launch a new travel series, “My Happy Place,” on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, featuring celebrity hosts reflecting on meaningful locations around the globe. The original six-part series, produced by Boardwalk Pictures, showcases six different stars leading viewers through destinations significant to them.
Alan Cumming, the Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor, will kick off the series by exploring the Scottish Highlands in the debut episode. According to a CNN press release, Cumming has a close emotional connection to the area, where he often sought refuge during his childhood. “The places where we filmed weren’t far from where I felt safest as a little boy,” he recalls.
Cumming will reveal local traditions and experiences, including attending the iconic Highland Games and enjoying the hospitality of local pubs. He emphasizes the importance of connecting with people in these communities, stating, “It’s for real people seeking a more authentic adventure.” Following Cumming, the series will transport viewers to Bali, Indonesia, led by Taraji P. Henson, and to other locations such as Austin, Texas; Mykonos, Greece; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Bangkok, Thailand through various celebrity hosts.
In today’s travel climate, where many are opting for less visited locations, Cumming encourages viewers to appreciate the beauty of the Highlands. He advises against rushing through the experience, aiming instead for deeper connections to the places they visit. “Oddly, I felt a sense of safety visiting with the film crew,” he adds about his return to Scotland.
My Happy Place promises not just to highlight breathtaking landscapes but also to capture the essence of each host’s personal journey to their happy place.
