In a significant development, 66-year-old Steve Wright, formerly of London Road, Ipswich, has been charged with the murder and kidnap of 17-year-old Victoria Hall in 1999.

Victoria Hall, last seen alive in Trimley St Mary, Suffolk, in 1999, had sparked a massive missing person’s inquiry after not returning home following a night out with a friend at Bandbox nightclub in Bent Hill, Felixstowe.

Authorities revealed that Victoria parted ways with her friend near the junction of High Road and Faulkeners Way, just yards away from her home, before her tragic disappearance.

The discovery of Victoria’s naked body by a dog walker in a ditch beside a field on Creeting Lane, Creeting St Peter, intensified the investigation into the case.

Steve Wright, also charged with the attempted kidnap of a 22-year-old woman on the night before Victoria’s disappearance, will appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on 3 June.

The Crown Prosecution Service, represented by Frank Ferguson, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the East of England, emphasized the importance of a fair trial and urged against any reporting that could prejudice the ongoing legal proceedings.
