Coldplay’s Chris Martin Shows Support for Ex as New Movie Releases

Las Vegas, NV — Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, publicly expressed support for his ex-girlfriend, Dakota Johnson, during a concert on June 6. This gesture follows their recent breakup after nearly eight years together.
A concertgoer, Jasmin, shared a TikTok video capturing the moment. In the clip, Martin, 48, addresses the audience, thanking them warmly. “Thank you, everybody! Be kind to each other!” he said. He added, “Don’t forget to go see Materialists!” referencing Johnson’s upcoming film.
Materialists, a romantic comedy set to premiere on June 13, features Johnson, 35, as a New York City matchmaker caught between a new love and a complicated ex. Representatives for both stars did not respond to requests for comment on the breakup.
News of their split emerged on June 4 from various sources, with one stating, “It feels final this time.” The couple, who were first linked in 2017, were last seen together in Malibu on May 16 after a hand-holding incident in India earlier this year.
An insider revealed that while engagement rumors circulated in 2020, the couple was “in no rush to get married.” Earlier this month, breakup rumors had surfaced, but sources claimed they were “happily together.”
Interestingly, Martin’s ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, has reportedly maintained a close friendship with Johnson, highlighting their shared experiences in the spotlight. “There’s a genuine bond, and they relate to each other’s experiences,” a source noted.
As Martin continues his world tour, performing next in Denver on June 10, Johnson is promoting her new film, showcasing their ability to support each other despite their breakup.
