Coldplay’s Political Statement at Glastonbury Festival: Welcoming Elyanna Onstage
British band Coldplay made a bold political statement at the UK’s Glastonbury Festival by inviting Palestinian Chilean singer Elyanna on stage during their headlining set.
The band’s performance featured the track ‘We Pray’ from their upcoming album ‘Moon Music,’ with rapper Little Simz and vocalist Elyanna joining them to cheers from the audience.
Lead singer Chris Martin emphasized the importance of showing a ‘beacon of togetherness’ through their collaboration on stage.
During a concert in Tokyo in November, Martin also spoke out against the Israel-Gaza war, expressing sentiments against oppression, occupation, and terrorism.
In May, Elyanna made her television debut on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ and in 2023, she became the first artist to perform a full set in Arabic at California’s Coachella music festival, using her platform to raise awareness about the ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile, pop star Dua Lipa lit up the Glastonbury stage with a high-energy performance, sharing the spotlight with other talented artists like SZA and Shania Twain.
Lipa expressed her gratitude for headlining the festival, following in the footsteps of music icons like Paul McCartney, Beyoncé, and David Bowie.
