Colombia vs. Canada Match Rescheduled Amid Storm Warnings

HARRISON, New Jersey — The Colombian Football Federation announced a change in schedule for the friendly match between Colombia and Canada on Tuesday, October 14. The game, originally set to start at 7:00 p.m., will now kick off at 7:30 p.m. due to severe weather conditions in the area.
Intense rainfall and wind gusts exceeding 80 kilometers per hour from a nor’easter have prompted local authorities to declare a state of emergency due to flooding. In a statement, the Federation did not specify the reasons for the delay beyond the weather.
“Today Colombia plays, today plays a country!” the Federation wrote on its official social media accounts. Fans are encouraged to follow the match on RCN Channel and its app.
This will be Colombia’s final match during the October FIFA date, following a recent victory in Texas where they rotated players from their World Cup 2026 qualifying squad. Goal scorers in that match included Jhon Lucumí, Luis Díaz, Jefferson Lerma, and Johan Carbonero.
For this upcoming match, head coach Néstor Lorenzo is expected to field a strong starting eleven. Meanwhile, Canada, managed by Jesse Marsch since 2024, will look to build on its competitive performance following its quarter-final appearance in the Gold Cup and a semi-final run in the Copa América 2024.
With an emphasis on high pressing and strong wing play, Canada aims to challenge Colombia and control the pace of the game. The team has shown adaptability in its tactics, and key players include Jonathan David and Tajon Buchanan. Colombia will need to stay disciplined and efficient to avoid falling victim to Canada’s aggressive style of play.
As severe weather continues, both teams will prepare for what could be an exciting and challenging match at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
