Colorado Buffaloes Basketball Game

Boulder, Colo. – The Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team will open its 2025-26 season against Montana State on Monday, November 3, at the CU Events Center, with tip-off scheduled for 7:01 p.m. MT. This matchup marks the ninth all-time meeting between the two teams, with Montana State leading the series 6-2.

The Buffaloes are keen to start strong after finishing last season with a 14-21 record, including just three wins in 20 Big 12 games. Head coach Tad Boyle, who enters his 16th season, has reloaded the team with a mix of talented freshmen and experienced transfers. The new additions include Barrington Hargress, who averaged 20.2 points last season at UC Riverside.

Colorado has a strong record in season openers, winning 87 of 122 all-time. Under Boyle, the Buffaloes are an impressive 13-2 in season openers, including 15-0 at home. They are hoping to extend this streak as they tip off against a Bobcats team that finished last season 15-18 and has a mix of returners and newcomers, including five returning players and seven transfers.

The Buffaloes’ strong home opener history, winning their last 17, will be pivotal as they aim to build momentum early in the season. Boyle emphasized the importance of teamwork and how individual talent needs to flourish collectively to produce successful outcomes. “It’s about how our talent works together,” he said.

Montana State’s leading scorer from last season, Patrick McMahon, returns, providing a challenge for Colorado’s defense. The Buffaloes will look to players like Bangot Dak and Elijah Malone as they try to establish an offensive rhythm from the start. Colorado’s preseason exhibition against Grace College showcased their scoring potential, with the team organizing strong defensive plays and capitalizing on turnovers.

As they face Montana State tonight, the Buffaloes will not only aim for a victory but also for a demonstration of their ability to adapt and expand their capabilities throughout the season. The game can be watched on ESPN+ and listened to on KOA 850 AM and 94.1 FM.

“We have skilled players eager to show what they can do,” Boyle said. “This is just the beginning.” The excitement builds as fans anticipate the game at the CU Events Center.
