Matt Rife Comedy Show Fall River Belmont Club

FALL RIVER, Mass. — Comedy fans in Fall River received an unexpected treat Sunday night when TikTok sensation and stand-up comedian Matt Rife made a surprise appearance at the Belmont Club. The 29-year-old comedian joined a sold-out lineup for the ROFL House comedy show, hosted by Whale City Comedy.

The event featured a roster of comedians, including Ray Harrington, Sonya Priest, Derek Furtado, Carolina Montesquieu, and Doug Key. Rife, known for his viral TikTok presence and sold-out tours, added an extra layer of excitement to the evening. The Belmont Club, located at 34 Franklin St., was packed with fans eager for a night of laughter.

“Thank you Whale City Comedy and all of our comedians, as well as our special guest Matt Rife, for making the return of ROFL House comedy a success,” the club wrote on Facebook. Another post teased, “You never know who could pop in at a Whale City Comedy Festival show!!!”

Rife, an Ohio native who recently purchased a home in North Smithfield, Rhode Island, has become a prominent figure in the comedy world. He began performing stand-up at 15 and has since shared stages with comedy legends like Dane Cook, Ralphie May, and Mike Epps. He is also the youngest male regular performer at the World Famous Laugh Factory.

In addition to his stand-up career, Rife is an author. His book, “Your Mom’s Gonna Love Me,” blends memoir and comedy, offering insights into his rise to fame, battles with depression, and humorous takes on pop culture.

Whale City Comedy is known for its pop-up shows and annual five-day comedy festival in the SouthCoast region. This summer, the festival featured 30 top-tier comedians from platforms like Comedy Central, Conan, and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

For fans who missed Rife’s surprise appearance, he will return to the area with shows at the Comedy Connection in East Providence on March 29-30 and Boston’s TD Garden on Dec. 31. He is also scheduled to perform at Madison Square Garden in July.
