Comedian Sophie Duker Returns For Redemption Week On Richard Osman's House Of Games

Queer comedian Sophie Duker is set to make a return on Richard Osman’s House of Games during the show’s Redemption Week. This special twist gives contestants who were unsuccessful in previous appearances another chance at winning. Joining Duker in this week’s line-up are Babatunde Aléshé, Gaby Roslin, and Jeff Stelling. The trivia gameshow can be seen on BBC Two.

Duker first gained recognition as part of the Oxford Imps, an improv comedy group while studying at Oxford University. In 2015, she made it to the finals of the esteemed Funny Women Award and won the Best Comedy Writer accolade in 2021.

Aside from her stand-up comedy, Duker is passionate about promoting anti-racist and pro-LGBTQ+ values. This commitment led her to establish Wacky Racists, a comedy club hosting regular shows across London. Her solo shows, Venus and Hag, received critical acclaim and nominations. Duker has also written for popular TV shows such as Spitting Image, Netflix‘s Too Hot to Handle, and CBBC‘s Horrible Histories. Additionally, she has appeared on various podcasts including The Guilty Feminist, Everything I Know About Love, and I May Destroy You.

Duker, who identifies as both queer and bisexual, has been vocal about LGBTQ+ issues throughout her career. At the PinkNews Awards, she criticized comedians who use their platforms to mock minority groups. Coming from a Black bisexual background, Duker has highlighted the importance of representation in the industry.

Previously, Duker showcased her pottery skills on the festive special of Channel 4‘s hit reality series, The Great Pottery Throw Down. The show, judged by Rich Miller and Keith Brymer Jones, was hosted by Siobhán McSweeney. Duker’s comedic talent has also landed her appearances on popular comedy shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, and Frankie Boyle’s New World Order. She recently emerged victorious on Celebrity Mastermind and Taskmaster.
