The Conners Prepares for Emotional Farewell in Final Season

LOS ANGELES, CA — After six successful seasons as a spinoff of the iconic sitcom Roseanne, ABC‘s The Conners is set to return on March 26, 2025, for its seventh and final season. The beloved show’s conclusion elicits mixed emotions, as fans reflect on its long-standing legacy.
The Conners, which features John Goodman as Dan Conner, will air its last six episodes, promising to address unresolved storylines and character arcs that have developed since the series debut. The final season will explore the challenges faced by the family as they navigate life’s complexities without their matriarch, Roseanne Barr.
Since its premiere in 2018, The Conners has captivated audiences, evolving from the original series that aired from 1988 to 1997. During this time, the Conner family endured significant hardships while maintaining their humor and resilience, reflecting many American families’ realities.
“We treat each other with respect… we work hard… and no matter what, we stick together,” Dan Conner states in the season’s trailer. “We always said if the kids were still alive at the end of the day, we did our job. I think we did better than that.”
This final season may see the return of fan-favorite characters while introducing new faces like Zoe Perry and Seth Green, who play pivotal roles. However, criticisms have emerged regarding the late introduction of these characters, especially given the limited six-episode format, which presents challenges in adequately concluding storylines.
“Season seven must primarily focus on wrapping up the show’s plots rather than adding new characters into the mix,” said executive producer Bruce Helford. However, reports indicate key characters, such as DJ and Beverley, will not return, leaving open the question about how their narratives will resolve.
Viewers are particularly curious about the fate of long-term storylines, such as Darlene’s career developments and Jackie’s aspiration to rejoin the police force. With only six episodes to put a bow on these arcs, there’s concern that important narratives will go unresolved.
Despite the challenges, the core cast remains committed to delivering a satisfying conclusion. “We have a lot of storylines to wrap up quickly,” commented Sara Gilbert, who plays Darlene. “But we’re excited to honor the legacy of this show, and we look forward to sharing these last moments with our viewers.”
The Conners’ final season promises to be an emotional farewell that captures the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of a working-class family that has become a staple of American television.
