Container Ship Collides With Bridge In Baltimore, Multiple Vehicles Fall Into River

A major incident unfolded in Baltimore as a container ship collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge, leading to the collapse of a portion of the bridge and causing multiple vehicles to plunge into the Patapsco River below. The collision occurred during the early hours of Tuesday morning local time, resulting in a chaotic scene.

The Baltimore City Fire Department swiftly responded to what was described as a mass-casualty event, with emergency workers launching a search and rescue operation for individuals potentially in the water. Despite the magnitude of the incident, there were no immediate reports of casualties, although the situation remained urgent.

The vessel involved in the collision was identified as a Singaporean-flagged container ship named Dali, which had departed from Point Breeze in Baltimore before the disastrous impact with the bridge. The specifics leading to the collision were yet to be fully determined, causing heightened concern and scrutiny over the sequence of events.

Synergy Marine Group, the owning company of the Dali, confirmed the collision with the bridge pillar. Promptly, the ship’s qualified personnel mobilized an incident response service, ensuring the safety and accountability of all crew members aboard, including the two pilots who were present during the collision.
