Country Singer Alaina Announces Pregnancy, Shares Emotional Journey
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country singer Alaina, 30, is expecting her first child with husband Cam Arnold, PEOPLE exclusively confirmed on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. The pregnancy news comes after Alaina teased her growing family in the music video for her new single, “Those Kind of Women.”
“I didn’t know I could love something that I haven’t even really held yet,” Alaina told PEOPLE. “I feel the baby inside me, and it’s kicking me and doing all of the things. It’s like I was the Grinch or something, and my heart grew.”
The couple, who married last year, had initially planned to start trying for a baby at the end of 2025. However, Alaina revealed that “mother nature had other plans.” She described the pregnancy as an unexpected blessing, especially following the death of her father in July. “I do think that my dad passed away and got up in heaven and was like, ‘Hey, we got to work something out down there to send the family something good,'” she said.
Alaina and Arnold have already chosen a name for their baby, which will honor a family member, though they are keeping the sex of the child under wraps for now. The singer shared that her pregnancy has brought her and Arnold closer, calling him a “big nurturer” and expressing excitement about watching him become a father.
Despite her joy, Alaina admitted to feeling unprepared for motherhood. “Now I’m scared because I don’t feel like I passed any sort of test. They don’t make you take a test on being a mom,” she joked. She has been leaning on her mother and friends with children for advice.
Alaina’s pregnancy has been relatively smooth so far, with no morning sickness but a newfound level of exhaustion. Her cravings have been minimal, though she confessed to an emotional moment over chili cheese dogs on her 30th birthday in November. “I literally almost cried over the hot dog,” she said with a laugh.
The music video for “Those Kind of Women” holds special significance for Alaina, as it reflects on the strong women who raised her. She wrote the song before learning of her pregnancy, but the lyrics have since taken on new meaning. “Now I am going to be a woman raising a child,” she said. In the video, Alaina debuted a baby bump — though it was a prosthetic to emphasize her pregnancy visually.
As Alaina prepares for motherhood, she remains grateful for the support of her family and the unexpected joy her pregnancy has brought after a year of loss. “This baby has healed a lot of that for us,” she said. “It’s a little piece of my dad that will live on.”
