LA County Fair Celebrates Art Unleashed Theme Starting May 2

Pomona, California — The LA County Fair will open its doors on Friday, May 2, featuring a theme of “Art Unleashed” that aims to celebrate creativity across various forms of art. This year, visitors can enjoy a diverse lineup of entertainment and culinary delights.

Among the highlights is Cal Poly Pomona Day on Saturday, May 3, where students, faculty, staff, and alumni can purchase discounted tickets for $14.50. Fair attendees are encouraged to don their green and gold Cal Poly Pomona attire to show school spirit. Discounted tickets will also be available for $16.50 during the first two weeks of the fair, which runs through Memorial Day, May 26.

The fair will be held at the Fairplex in Pomona, with operating hours set for 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on opening day, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on subsequent Thursdays through Sundays. The grandstand will undergo renovations, relocating some exhibits to Expo Hall 5.

This year’s food offerings promise to be a hit, featuring unique items such as meatball mozzarella corn dogs and a variety of creative treats from vendors. Charlie Boghosian of Chicken Charlie’s will introduce several innovative snacks, while Dominic Palmieri’s Biggy’s will offer a Big Daddy Corn Dog drizzled with Mike’s Hot Honey.

Entertainment is plentiful with live music scheduled throughout the fair. The concert series kicks off with the funk rock group War and will continue with performances from artists like Cheap Trick and Shaggy. Tickets for concerts, which include same-day fair admission, range from $57 to $203.

Families can enjoy interactive events at the Farm & Garden area, where agriculture students will showcase animals and Thummer, the fair mascot, will make appearances. Additional attractions include pig races, a petting zoo, and over 40 carnival rides.

Information on ticket pricing indicates that opening day tickets purchased in advance are $9.50, with adult admission shifting to $18.50 on Thursdays and up to $27.50 on weekends. Discounted tickets for children, seniors, and veterans will also be available. The fair emphasizes a cashless experience, encouraging attendees to purchase tickets and parking online.
