Courtney Stodden Addresses Recent Nose Surgery, Shares Journey to Sobriety
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Courtney Stodden, the star of “Confessions of a Child Bride,” has opened up about their recent nose surgery. In a new interview, Stodden, who uses she/they pronouns, clarified the purpose of the procedure after being photographed leaving a doctor’s office on September 24.
Stodden underwent a septoplasty to fix a deviated nasal septum that has caused breathing difficulties for years. “While I was in surgery, I also opted for a very minor revision to the outside of my nose,” Stodden explained. “This was not a dramatic cosmetic change, but more of a small refinement while addressing my health concerns. I’m feeling so much better already and grateful to finally be breathing easier.”
The surgery, which Stodden confirmed was their second nose job, aimed to improve both their appearance and health. In 2016, they had surgery at Dr. Robert Kotler’s office to remove a bump on their nose and to tackle sinus issues.
Paparazzi caught Stodden leaving Dr. Gary Motykie’s office after the recent procedure, which sparked speculation online. Stodden was seen wearing a two-piece satin pajama set and holding a hand fan while being wheeled to their car by a nurse. Despite visible swelling and bruising, they maintained a confident demeanor.
Stodden’s husband, media executive Jared Safier, was present during their recovery and was photographed affectionately supporting them. This incident has stirred discussions about Stodden’s history with plastic surgery. In 2013, they shared insights about their past surgeries during a candid interview.
The entertainer gained public attention for marrying actor Doug Hutchison at the age of 16. Stodden has expressed that while Hutchison was not supportive of their physical changes, he appreciated their natural beauty, which ironically motivated Stodden to pursue surgery.
“That made me want to do it more! So, he just loved me so much the way that I was. But you know, I’m happier now,” they said during their earlier interview.
Stodden has faced criticism for their physical transformation and acknowledged that public judgment is inevitable. They expressed satisfaction with their appearance and clarified their surgical enhancements, stating, “I’m a confident girl, I’m happy. And honestly, I think that’s all that matters.”
Stodden recently celebrated their 31st birthday on August 29, 2025, sober for the first time. On Instagram, they shared a celebratory video and reflected on their journey. “I survived what should have destroyed me. I’m beginning my sober journey… I’m unlearning a lot of toxic habits,” they wrote, encouraging others facing similar challenges that they are not alone.
At this point, questions remain whether Stodden’s recent surgery will be their last.
