LOS ANGELES, March 31, 2025 — Warner Bros. has finalized the sale of its once-shelved movie, “Coyote Vs. Acme,” to Ketchup Entertainment, granting the distributor worldwide rights to the live-action and animated hybrid film featuring the iconic Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote. This move comes as Ketchup aims to bring the film to theaters, targeting a release in 2026.

Ketchup Entertainment, in a statement from CEO Gareth West, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition. “We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide. Coyote Vs. Acme is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation. We believe it will resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike,” West said.

Directed by David Green and written by Samy Burch, the film includes notable cast members such as Will Forte, John Cena, Lana Condor, and Tone Bell. The story centers around Wile E. Coyote, who, after numerous failed attempts to catch the Road Runner using Acme products, hires a billboard lawyer to sue the Acme Corporation.

The film’s plot thickens as Wile E. and his lawyer, portrayed by Forte, face off against Cena, who plays the lawyer’s former boss. As the case unfolds, the burgeoning friendship between the man and the cartoon character strengthens their resolve to win the legal battle.

Despite receiving positive feedback during test screenings, “Coyote Vs. Acme” was shelved by Warner Bros. two years ago, where it remained dormant for over a year amid corporate cost-cutting measures. The studio reportedly sought a sale price of around $70 million but received no offers at the time, leading to concerns about potential tax write-offs for the unfinished project.

This shelving disappointed many within the film industry, including Forte, who referred to the situation as “f*cking bullsh*t.” The team behind the film had invested significant effort, with Forte emphasizing the quality of the work and the talent involved. “I gave my heart and soul to it. It’s tough because people who excel in this film should have the chance to shine and earn another opportunity,” he stated in a previous interview.

Ketchup’s acquisition of “Coyote Vs. Acme” marks a landmark investment for the company, which has produced other titles including “Goodrich,” “Hellboy: The Crooked Man,” “Hypnotic,” and “Memory.” This new venture reflects Ketchup’s commitment to expanding its portfolio and bringing engaging content to audiences.

As anticipation builds for the film’s release, fans and industry insiders alike are eager to see how this new chapter unfolds for Wile E. Coyote and his quest against the Acme Corporation.
