Craig Melvin, a familiar face on NBC‘s ‘Today‘ show, is set to take on a new role as co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie in January 2025. Melvin will replace Hoda Kotb, who will conclude her tenure on January 10, 2025, with Melvin stepping in on January 13, 2025.

Melvin, who has been a part of the ‘Today’ show family since August 2018, has built a strong reputation as a reliable and engaging anchor. His journey with NBC spans nearly 14 years, during which he has covered significant events such as presidential elections, the Olympics, and breaking news.

Before joining NBC, Melvin honed his skills as an evening news anchor for WIS in Columbia, South Carolina, and later as a weekend anchor for WRC, an NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C. He joined MSNBC in July 2011, where he served as a weekend anchor until 2014 and later as an anchor for MSNBC Live until 2022.

In a statement, Melvin expressed his excitement about the new role, saying, ‘I am beyond excited and grateful. I had a lot of conversations … with a lot of people who mean a lot to me. I want to obviously thank NBC and the folks here who’ve deemed me worthy … I’ve enjoyed a lifetime of blessings, and this is the latest in a long line of blessings.’

Fans of the ‘Today’ show can look forward to seeing Melvin bring his unique perspective and energy to the 7 a.m. time slot. WIS’s Judi Gatson will provide behind-the-scenes coverage of Melvin’s first day in his new role, offering viewers an inside look at this significant transition.
