Cristiano Ronaldo’s Club World Cup Future in Discussions, Says FIFA President

NEW YORK, USA — FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that discussions are underway regarding Cristiano Ronaldo‘s potential participation in the upcoming Club World Cup.
The tournament, which significantly expands to include 32 teams, is set for June 14 to July 13, 2025, in the United States. Ronaldo’s current club, Al Nassr from Saudi Arabia, did not qualify, but the possibility of him representing another team is being explored.
During a livestream with American influencer IShowSpeed, Infantino remarked, “Ronaldo might play for one of the teams at the Club World Cup. There are discussions.” He further emphasized that any club interested in signing Ronaldo for the tournament should reach out.
Ronaldo’s representatives expressed dissatisfaction with Infantino’s comments, as the 40-year-old Portuguese star is currently negotiating an extension with Al Nassr. Despite ongoing conversations, both parties have not reached an agreement.
As the revamped Club World Cup approaches, FIFA has also decided to implement an “exceptional registration window” from June 1 to June 10, allowing teams to make transfers before the tournament. Infantino suggested that there might be exciting matchups, including a potential clash between Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and Real Madrid.
The Club World Cup, which includes teams like Juventus and the previously mentioned Inter Miami, is expected to be a landmark event with stars from around the globe.
While tickets for some matches have struggled in terms of sales, FIFA has introduced a variable pricing model in response to market demand, adjusting prices based on interest.
Ronaldo’s incredible career includes stints with notable clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus. As the highest goal scorer in international football, he has made headlines with his performances, tallying 935 goals throughout his professional career.
Wydad Casablanca, a Moroccan club and three-time African Champions League winner, is reportedly interested in signing Ronaldo for the Club World Cup. The club sees his addition as not just a sporting move but also a way to elevate their global profile. Targeting a short-term deal, they hope to finalize an arrangement before June 30 when Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr expires.
With the Club World Cup drawing nearer, the sports world watches closely to see if Ronaldo will make a stunning entry in this prestigious tournament.
