Cyndi Lauper Announces Farewell Tour Starting In Montreal

The iconic American singer, Cyndi Lauper, is set to kick off her farewell tour in Montreal this October.

Beginning on October 18 at the Centre Bell, Lauper will embark on a series of 23 shows, with a stop in Toronto on October 20. The tour, aptly named Girls Just Wanna Have Fun after one of her most famous songs, will then travel across the United States before wrapping up in Chicago on December 5.

Simultaneously with the tour, a documentary showcasing the legendary artist’s career will premiere. Titled The Canary Sings, the film will be available for streaming on Paramount + starting this Tuesday.

Cyndi Lauper rose to stardom in the 1980s with hit songs like Time after Time and She Bops, which she co-wrote, along with the classic Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Notably, she also made her mark on Broadway with the musical Kinky Boots, which earned six Tony Awards in 2013. Lauper was honored with the accolade for Best Original Score.

In recognition of her remarkable contributions to music, Lauper was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015, and her album She’s so Unusual was added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2018.
