Cynthia Erivo Calls for Nene Leakes’ Return to ‘Real Housewives’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Actress Cynthia Erivo, known for her role in “Wicked,” has publicly expressed her admiration for Nene Leakes and her desire to see the reality star return to Bravo‘s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” (RHOA). In a recent interview, Erivo revealed her love for the franchise, particularly the Atlanta and Potomac series.

“I also love Potomac. It’s fantastic. They’re very honest, which I like. Also, there’s no fighting or fisticuffs, but they will read each other crazily. Atlanta definitely gets a little rowdy, though,” Erivo told W Magazine. When asked about Leakes, Erivo added, “I am a Nene Leakes fan. I love her. Where is she? Bring her back, please. She’s great.”

Leakes, one of the most recognizable faces of the “Real Housewives” franchise, left RHOA after Season 12 in 2020 following a contract dispute. She later sued Bravo, alleging a toxic work environment. However, in August 2023, Leakes hinted at a possible return, stating, “If I had to go back, it will be 100% for the fans. The check is not a bad check, although I think my check should be bigger.”

In September 2024, Leakes made a comeback to the NBCUniversal family, appearing on E!’s “Live From E!: Emmy After Party” as a presenter alongside Justin Sylvester and “Love Island USA” host Ariana Madix. She also starred in the clip show “Outrageous Love with Nene Leakes,” where she shared her opinions on couples’ relationships.

During a recent interview with TMZ, Leakes addressed the possibility of returning to RHOA. “I don’t know. If the opportunity was right and the check was on point, why not?” she said. Leakes also expressed her gratitude for Erivo’s support, noting that “so many people” had shared the W Magazine article with her.

Leakes joined RHOA in 2008 and quickly became a fan favorite. Her departure in 2020 was marked by a contentious negotiation process. “It was an extremely, extremely long, exhausting, tiring, emotional negotiation,” Leakes recalled in 2021. “There were a lot of emotions flying from both sides.”

As fans eagerly await news of a potential reunion, Erivo’s endorsement adds to the growing calls for Leakes’ return to the franchise that made her a household name.
