Daisy Edgar-Jones Reflects on Normal People Success and Future Possibilities
Daisy Edgar-Jones, the talented actress who shot to fame with her role in ‘Normal People,’ recently reflected on the immense success of the show and its lasting impact on her career.
‘Normal People’ was a 12-part adaptation of the bestselling novel by Sally Rooney, portraying the lives of young Irish individuals, Marianne Sheridan and Connor Waldren, and their tumultuous relationship.
Despite starring in high-octane Hollywood productions like ‘Twisters’ alongside Kiernan Shipka and Glen Powell, Daisy acknowledges that ‘Normal People’ remains a defining moment in her career.
Edgar-Jones expressed her gratitude for the role, stating, ‘It’s still Normal People I am known for. It meant a lot to people and a lot to me too.’
The actress emphasized the magical experience of working on the show, mentioning, ‘If you could bottle up my ideal role, world, film-maker, writer, it had everything.’
Currently, Daisy Edgar-Jones is promoting ‘Twisters,’ a departure from her initial TV debut in ITV drama ‘Cold Feet’ as Olivia, a character she took on while completing her A-levels.
Reflecting on her journey, she mentioned, ‘I came from Cold Feet. I just really wanted to work, in any way. I wanted to do theatre, but the goal was getting a job really.’
Despite her Hollywood ventures, Daisy remains close friends with Paul Mescal, who portrayed the character of Connell in ‘Normal People.’
In a recent interview, Daisy praised Mescal’s grounded nature and expressed excitement about future collaborations, saying, ‘We met when I was 20 and Paul was 22; I’m so excited to see where we’ll be at 32, 42, and what life will bring us.’
In a heartfelt gesture, Edgar-Jones and Mescal recently announced a fundraising event, hosting a marathon screening of ‘Normal People’s first season to support Unicef and Pieta, shedding light on important causes.
