Dallas Pastor Steve Lawson Removed Over Inappropriate Relationship
Steve Lawson, a prominent evangelical preacher and founder of OnePassion Ministries, has been removed from his pastoral duties at Trinity Bible Church in Dallas due to an “inappropriate relationship,” according to a statement by church elders. The announcement was made both on the church’s website and its social media accounts, effective immediately.
Trinity Bible Church clarified that Lawson’s removal was a consequence of his admission regarding an inappropriate relationship with a woman. While the statement did not divulge further details about the nature of the relationship or the identity of the woman, it outlined the church’s ongoing support. “The elders have met with Steve and will continue to come alongside him and pray for him with the ultimate goal of his personal repentance,” the statement read.
Lawson, who continues to serve as the president and founder of OnePassion Ministries, has had a distinguished career in ministry. His educational credentials include a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Theological Seminary. Over more than four decades, he served as a pastor in Arkansas and Alabama before taking the lead preacher role in Dallas.
The church’s statement further reiterated faith in the continuity of its mission despite Lawson’s departure. “The Lord was building Trinity Bible Church of Dallas well before Steve became our Lead Preacher, and He will continue to build this church long after,” the elders noted, emphasizing the role of various members filling the pulpit.
The elders concluded their announcement with a broader reflection, urging the congregation to pray not only for Lawson and his family but also for the entire church body. They reminded the congregation of a biblical proverb: “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.”
As of the latest reports, Steve Lawson has not issued a personal statement regarding his dismissal.
