Darius McCrary Arrested at U.S.-Mexico Border Over Felony Warrant

San Diego, California — Actor Darius McCrary, known for his role as Eddie Winslow on the sitcom Family Matters, was arrested near the U.S.-Mexico border on Sunday. The 48-year-old is currently being held in a San Diego jail, according to law enforcement records.
The United States Border Patrol detained McCrary as part of a ‘fugitive arrest’ related to an out-of-state felony charge. Texas appears to be the origin of the warrant, which reportedly stems from an unpaid child support case, according to McCrary’s representative, Ann Barlow.
This is not McCrary’s first run-in with the law regarding child support payments. He faced similar issues in 2015 and 2023 for failing to meet his obligations, which stem from a contentious divorce with his ex-wife Tammy Brawner. The divorce was finalized in 2019 after a two-year legal battle, and McCrary was ordered to pay $1,366 monthly in child support.
In January 2023, McCrary sought a restraining order against Brawner, claiming she was ‘terrorizing’ him. He alleged that their shared home had turned into a ‘drug den’ and expressed concerns for his safety, likening his fear to that of Phil Hartman, a tragically slain comedian.
While the details surrounding his recent arrest remain unclear, McCrary’s past legal troubles have prompted concern among fans, who recall his rise to fame as a teen star during the 1990s. As of now, McCrary’s upcoming court appearance has yet to be scheduled.
