Daryl Hannah Neil Young Couple Interview

LOS ANGELES, CA — Actress Daryl Hannah recently revealed in an interview that her husband, legendary musician Neil Young, faced bureaucratic harassment while attempting to secure U.S. citizenship during Donald Trump‘s first administration. Young, a Canadian-born artist, applied for dual citizenship in 2019 and ultimately became a U.S. citizen in 2020.

In the interview, Hannah, 64, described the process as frustrating, stating, “They tried every trick in the book to mess him up, and made him keep coming back to be re-interviewed and re-interviewed. It’s ridiculous [because] he’s been living in America and paying taxes here since he was in his 20s.”

Hannah expressed concern that Young’s vocal criticisms of Trump could impact his re-entry into the United States. Recently, Young wrote on his website, “If I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket.”

Young, 79, who has openly criticized Trump and his policies, shared his fears of being denied entry when he returns from his upcoming European tour. He remarked, “If you say anything bad about Trump or his administration, you may be barred from re-entering USA. If you are Canadian, if you are a dual citizen like me, who knows? We’ll all find that out together.”

Despite her husband’s apprehensions, Hannah does not believe that Young will be barred from the U.S. “They’ve been detaining people who have green cards or visas — which is hideous and horrifying — but they have not, so far, been refusing to let American citizens back in the country, so I don’t think that’s going to happen,” she said.

Young, who was also a member of the iconic group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, has previously engaged in public disputes with Spotify regarding the platforming of podcast host Joe Rogan. In 2022, he removed his music from Spotify but returned his catalog in 2024.

Looking ahead, Neil Young is set to headline the Glastonbury music festival in June, despite initially announcing a boycott of the event. He explained on his website that he had originally decided not to perform due to misinformation but later confirmed his return to the stage.

As plans for his Love Earth Tour with his band The Chrome Hearts unfold, Young will kick off the European segment on June 18 in Rättvik, Sweden, before returning to the U.S. for a concert in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 8, wrapping up his tour with a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on September 15.
