Daytona 500 2027 Nascar Race

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — Daytona International Speedway announced Wednesday that the 2027 Daytona 500 will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2027. The shift from Presidents Day weekend aims to reduce scheduling conflicts with other major sporting events, specifically the Super Bowl.

This change allows fans and families from all over the country and around the globe to plan their travel yet. Frank Kelleher, president of Daytona International Speedway, emphasized the significance of providing advance notice to fans, stating, “We know many of them make their travel and lodging plans well in advance for the trip.”

The Daytona 500 is often referred to as “The Great American Race” and is one of the biggest events in the NASCAR calendar. Historically, it has taken place during Presidents Day weekend, allowing fans to enjoy the race as the season opener for NASCAR.

In 2027, the Daytona 500 will be held the week after Presidents Day, allowing for a full week of racing excitement following Super Bowl LXI, which will be held on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in California. This decision is part of an effort to streamline race week experiences for fans, media, and the local community.

The Daytona 500 has cultivated a tradition of attracting fans from all 50 states and multiple countries for the NASCAR season kick-off. The current plans include various racing events leading up to the Daytona 500, starting with Speedweeks on February 11, 2027.

The 2026 Daytona 500 is still scheduled for February 15, 2026, with current champion William Byron aiming for his third consecutive win. Only a few drivers in NASCAR history have managed back-to-back victories in this prestigious race.

The Daytona International Speedway has hosted the Daytona 500 since its inception in 1959. The venue continues to be a hub for racing excellence and a beloved destination for motorsports fans.
