Deer Hunting Season Louisiana Flooding

Deer hunting season has been temporarily suspended in certain areas of Louisiana due to severe flooding. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced the closure of deer hunting in the Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area (WMA) effective immediately.

The decision was made in response to significant flooding in the region, which has rendered the area unsafe for hunters. This closure is part of broader measures to ensure public safety and protect the environment during this period of high water levels.

In addition to the Maurepas Swamp WMA, other areas such as Camp Bayou Road on the Dewey W. Wills WMA have also been closed to vehicular traffic due to flooding of the waterfowl impoundment. These closures highlight the ongoing challenges posed by recent weather conditions in Louisiana.

Hunters are advised to check with the LDWF for updates on the status of hunting seasons and any additional restrictions or closures before heading out into the field. The department will provide further information as conditions improve and areas become safe for hunting again).
