Delta Introduces New Flight Booking Experience Starting October 1, 2025

ATLANTA, Ga. — Delta Air Lines is rolling out a new booking experience for flights starting October 1, 2025. This update, which begins on May 15, 2025, will allow customers to choose travel experiences that better fit their needs.
The new system is designed to give customers more options and transparency. As Delta prepares for its next century of operation, it has rebranded its seating products to include Delta Main, Delta Comfort, Delta First, Delta Premium Select, and Delta One.
Starting this fall, “Basic Economy” will be integrated into Delta Main, offering three selectable experience options: Basic, Classic, and Extra. The Classic and Extra options will allow for more customization and flexibility. In some markets, Delta may provide “Refundable” options instead of “Extra,” allowing travelers to cancel their flights for a refund prior to departure.
The changes are reflected in a revamped shopping interface on Delta.com and the Fly Delta app. Eric Phillips, Delta’s S.V.P. and Chief Digital Officer, stated, “Our reimagined shopping experience gives customers more options and flexibility to pick the travel experience that works best for them.”
The new booking structure does not just affect fare names but also the experience gained from different tiers. The Basic experience earns no miles, while Classic earns up to 5 miles per dollar, and Extra earns 7 miles per dollar spent.
Delta assures that customers purchasing tickets before the new system begins will not see any changes in their travel experience, though the refreshed names will be visible. Customers can expect the same quality of service they have come to associate with Delta, according to Erik Snell, Chief Customer Experience Officer.
As the airline industry moves toward a more tiered pricing structure, Delta’s updates reflect a trend in air travel toward personalized customer experiences. For more information about Delta’s new shopping experience, visit their official website.
