Detective Duo Tackles Twisted Case in Latest ‘Law & Order’ Episode

NEW YORK, NY — In the latest episode of ‘Law & Order,’ airing March 20, 2025, a murder of a health insurance company CEO sends shockwaves through the city and transforms a prime suspect into an unlikely hero. Guest star Jesse Metcalfe plays Sgt. Danny DeLuca, a cop from the 27th Precinct who joins forces with Detective Vince Riley to track down a mysterious shooter.
Metcalfe expressed excitement about his role, stating, “I think the episode’s fantastic. It’s just action-packed, super compelling. I think it’s really going to resonate with the fans of the show.” The episode, titled “Folk Hero,” offers a thrilling narrative that feels disturbingly relevant to current events.
DeLuca, who becomes embroiled in the investigation after a prior relationship with Riley and Lieutenant Brady, showcases a blend of trust and camaraderie in his interactions with the main characters. “I play Sergeant Danny DeLuca, who happens to be in the area when this murder takes place,” Metcalfe explained. “Riley ends up taking off on foot to pursue the suspect, and he asks DeLuca to come along for the ride. He’s up for it.”
The filming process was intensive, with Metcalfe detailing eight straight days of running through lower Manhattan in chilly weather. “Shooting in Manhattan for the first time added a sense of authenticity to my performance,” he said. “It felt like you’re not acting. It was a lot of fun, and I think the scenes are intense.”
As for his character’s chemistry with Riley, Metcalfe praised Reid Scott‘s welcoming energy. “There was instant chemistry, primarily due to the fact that Reid Scott was just incredible in his support. Plus, my previous relationship with the director, Carlos Bernard, helped establish a shorthand that made the collaboration seamless.”
Fans may wonder if they’ll see DeLuca again and if his character will evolve. “From your lips to God’s ears, I certainly hope so,” Metcalfe stated. “It would be great to see Sergeant Danny DeLuca come back, possibly even become a detective.”
