Detroit Auto Show Charity Preview Showcases Fashion and Philanthropy
DETROIT, Mich. — The 2025 Detroit Auto Show Charity Preview returned to Huntington Place in January, blending high fashion with philanthropy as attendees braved snowy weather to support children’s charities across southeast Michigan. The event, a tradition for automotive enthusiasts and fashion-forward guests, raised funds while showcasing unique outfits and automotive innovation.
Designer Michael Drummond of Clawson continued his decade-long tradition of creating a gown for the event, this year worn by model Grace Heslip. The gown, crafted from materials provided by Troy-based Inteva, highlighted the intersection of automotive technology and fashion. “It’s about celebrating creativity and giving back,” Drummond said.
Raymond Hill, a longtime attendee, turned heads with a bowtie and pocket square he discovered at a Southfield boutique. “When I saw it, I knew it was perfect for the Charity Preview,” Hill said. “It’s all about making a statement while supporting a great cause.”
Local artists and Detroit poet laureate Naomi Long also embraced the spirit of shopping local. Their outfits, sourced almost entirely from Detroit stores, included a standout top hat from a boutique in the city. “Detroit has so much talent and creativity,” Long said. “We wanted to showcase that.”
Sally Moore‘s Western-themed ensemble drew inspiration from Beyoncé’s halftime performance during the Christmas Day Texans/Ravens game. “Cowboy Carter, baby. Can’t lie, halftime got me,” Moore quipped. Meanwhile, Lisa Gray‘s chic look centered around a coat she found in London, accessorized with her favorite glasses, earrings, and scarf.
Patty Ghesquiere, a devoted Detroit Lions fan, sported a sparkly Lions shirt gifted by her husband. “Every time I wear it, they win,” she said with a laugh. Business partners specializing in event planning for Ford Motor Co. and Lincoln also made a stylish appearance, showcasing their love for blazers and coordinated looks.
The Charity Preview, a cornerstone of the Detroit Auto Show, has raised millions for children’s charities over the years. This year’s event continued that legacy, combining automotive innovation, fashion, and philanthropy in a uniquely Detroit way.
