Hollywood, CA

Excitement is brewing as the sequel to the beloved film, The Devil Wears Prada, moves forward with filming set to begin this July. Emily Blunt, who reprises her role as Emily Charlton, confirmed this update during a recent interview.

The sequel is expected to hit theaters in May 2026, marking a long-awaited return for fans of the original film released two decades ago. Blunt revealed the new chapter sees her character as a high-powered executive facing off against Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. ‘Why are Meryl and I so mean to each other in every movie we do?’ Blunt teased. ‘We always have beef with each other. I don’t know what it is. Let’s hope we remedy it. I’m not sure.’

During her appearance at the American Institute for Stuttering’s 19th Annual Gala, Blunt remained mostly tight-lipped about the sequel’s storyline but expressed her enthusiasm saying, ‘We’re excited, very excited.’

The buzz has been strong among the original cast members, all eager to return. Stanley Tucci, who played Nigel Kipling, expressed that he would ‘revisit it in a second.’ He shared, ‘Listen, it was a great experience, right? My hope is, if it happens—obviously we’d have to work out all the logistics—but it’d be a fun thing for everybody.’

Anne Hathaway, who played the protagonist Andy Sachs, has not officially confirmed her participation but hinted about Andy’s new life. ‘Andy is in Paris and I think that she is writing for a wonderful French women’s magazine,’ Hathaway told E! in 2022. ‘I think she’s a staff writer and she speaks French fluently. I don’t think she’s married, but she might have a child or two. I think she’s pretty fab.’

As production gears up, fans can expect an exciting blend of fashion and drama as the characters navigate the ever-changing industry. With filming set to commence soon, anticipation continues to grow for The Devil Wears Prada sequel.
