Devin Booker, the shooting guard for the Phoenix Suns, has made an early Christmas gesture by gifting the Michigan State Spartans basketball team with his special edition Nike Book 1 PE shoes. This act of generosity was shared by the Spartans on social media, where they expressed their gratitude towards Booker. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native met with the Spartans team ahead of the exhibition game they had lined up for Tuesday night.

Michigan State redshirt freshman guard, Jeremey Fears Jr., hailed Booker’s gift in a video, stating, “Got the little Sparty right here. All green, you know. Shoutout D-Book, man. Came through clutch for the guys. We here.” The linked images prominently featured the customized sneakers, which were adorned with the emblem of the Michigan State Spartans.

Booker’s college basketball journey was marked by his choice to play for Kentucky under the coaching of John Calipari, instead of staying in state with Tom Izzo at Michigan State. Before his college career, Booker attended Grandville High School in Michigan, before transferring to Moss Point in Mississippi. His standout high school career included averaging 30.9 points per game as a senior and earning recognition as a McDonald's All-American.

Following a brief stint at Kentucky, Booker was picked 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2015 NBA Draft. Now entering his tenth season in the NBA, Booker was also part of the USA Basketball team that secured a gold medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

The Michigan State Spartans, projected to rank fifth in the Big Ten in the preseason polls, finished the previous season with a 20-15 record. Their performance last season included advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament before they were defeated by the 5-seed, University of North Carolina.

In a friendly reunion, Booker also spent time with Michigan State’s head coach, Tom Izzo, before the Suns’ preseason exhibition against the Detroit Pistons at the Breslin Center. The interaction was notable as Izzo had nearly secured Booker’s commitment during his college recruitment phase.
