Dick Van Dyke Malibu Wildfire 2025

MALIBU, Calif. — Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke, 99, and his wife Arlene Silver, 53, have chosen to remain in their Malibu home despite ongoing wildfires ravaging Southern California. The fires have claimed 25 lives and displaced thousands, but the couple has opted to stay, citing comfort and resilience.

Silver shared updates on Instagram, revealing that their guest house sustained minor damage but their main residence remains intact. “Keeping Dick warm and entertained has been my top priority,” she said. The couple has been without power, relying on propane tanks for heat and light.

In a video posted Tuesday, Van Dyke humorously addressed their situation: “Listen, we got no heat, we got no light, our neighborhood is a terrible sight. We’re staying as warm as we possibly can, sitting around waiting for the propane man.” Silver added that Van Dyke has not seen the full extent of the damage, as he prefers to remain indoors.

Fans expressed concern in the comments, urging the couple to relocate to a hotel for safety and comfort. One fan wrote, “Please try to convince him to go to a hotel until power is restored. He is our gifted treasure.” Others echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of Van Dyke’s health and well-being.

Despite the challenges, the couple remains steadfast. Silver explained that Van Dyke finds comfort in staying home, even as the fires continue to pose a threat. The wildfires, described as a “disaster” by the couple, have left many in the region grappling with loss and uncertainty.

Van Dyke, known for his iconic roles in “Mary Poppins” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” has long been a beloved figure in Hollywood. His decision to stay put during the crisis has drawn both admiration and concern from fans worldwide.
