Scheduled for release soon, the documentary ‘Is It Your Money?’ directed by Chude Jideonwo in collaboration with Capital Film Production is set to unveil the corruption story of Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria‘s former Minister of Petroleum Resources.

Scheduled for release soon, the documentary promises a deep dive into accusations of corruption that have long plagued Diezani-Madueke.

Diezani-Madueke, who made history as Nigeria’s first female Minister of Petroleum Resources and led the nation’s delegation to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) conference in 2010, faces damning claims of embezzling an astounding $6 billion.

U.S. and British officials have suggested she may have played a direct role in orchestrating these illicit financial maneuvers.

‘All the revelations that came out of the Diezani story by now should have become a movie,’ stated #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, one of the sources interviewed in the documentary, underscoring the gravity of the allegations and their cinematic potential.

The film is poised to reveal previously undisclosed details, including Diezani-Madueke’s ownership of luxurious properties in the United States, further amplifying concerns about her financial dealings while in office.

‘I can’t remember if there’s ever been a Nigerian woman as powerful as she was,’ remarked one commentator featured in the documentary, reflecting on Diezani-Madueke’s influential yet controversial legacy.

With its narrative woven through interviews, archival footage, and investigative journalism, ‘Is It Your Money?’ aims to prompt critical discourse on governance, accountability, and the ethical responsibilities of public officials.

Anticipation is high among audiences and stakeholders, who await the documentary’s release as a catalyst for transparency and reform in Nigeria’s political landscape.

On October 2, 2023, SaharaReporters reported that the Westminster Magistrates Court in the United Kingdom earlier in the day granted Alison-Madueke a £70,000 bail in her £100,000 bribe trial.

Alison-Madueke’s bail application was granted by district judge, Michael Snow.

Snow further imposed other terms on Alison-Madueke including an 11 pm to 6 am curfew, an electronic tag to be worn by her at all times and a £70,000 surety to be paid before she could leave the court building.

Diezani Alison-Madueke was charged for receiving bribes in the form of cash, luxury goods, flights on private jets and the use of high-end properties in Britain in return for awarding oil contracts.

Later in October 2023, the court hearing was adjourned to November 2025.

Alison-Madueke, who served as Nigeria’s minister for petroleum resources between 2010 and 2015, during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has been in London for close to a decade.
