DirecTV Launches ‘MySports’ Bundle to Target Streaming Sports Fans

NEW YORK — DirecTV announced Tuesday the launch of “MySports,” a new sports-focused streaming package aimed at retaining and attracting sports fans amid the ongoing shift from traditional cable to streaming services. The bundle, priced at $49.99 per month for the first three months and $69.99 thereafter, will include ESPN channels, Fox Sports, TNT Sports, college league networks, and local broadcast networks, excluding CBS for now.

The move is part of a broader industry trend toward “skinny bundles,” which offer smaller, more affordable channel packages tailored to specific interests. Last week, Disney acquired a 70 percent stake in Fubo, another streaming service offering similar sports-focused bundles. This development follows the collapse of Venu Sports, a joint venture between ESPN, Fox Sports, and TNT Sports, which was abandoned after Fubo’s litigation and subsequent industry negotiations.

“MySports” will initially be available in 24 major metropolitan markets, including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and will feature 40 channels. The service aims to combat cord-cutting, as ESPN’s subscriber base has dropped from 100 million cable homes to approximately 66 million, according to Nielsen data.

ESPN is also preparing to launch its own direct-to-consumer streaming product, expected to debut in August 2025 at a monthly cost of $25 to $30. This standalone service will complement the “MySports” bundle, offering fans more flexibility in how they access sports content.

“The landscape of sports media is evolving rapidly, and we are committed to meeting fans where they are,” said a DirecTV spokesperson. “With ‘MySports,’ we’re providing a cost-effective way for viewers to enjoy their favorite sports without the burden of a full cable package.”

The annual cost for “MySports” will be $779.88 in the first year and $839.88 thereafter. As the streaming wars intensify, networks and providers are racing to offer tailored solutions to retain audiences and adapt to changing viewing habits.
